A loan of $175 helped to buy more charcoal for her business.

Zuwena's story

Zuwena sells charcoal in the Jang'ombe neighborhood of Zanzibar. Charcoal is a common household item in Tanzania, as it is used by many women to cook and heat food. Few families own a stove or oven. Zuwena is currently able to earn a profit of approximately $50 each month.

She completed one prior loan with BRAC Tanzania which she repaid successfully and on time. She is requesting her second loan so that she may further increase her inventory of charcoal.

Zuwena is 46 years old, married, and has four children: ages 17, 15, 11, and 4-and-a-half.
