A loan of $3,400 helped a member to buy food ingredients and various other products for resale.

Fiffawa 1 Group's story

The Fiffawa 1 Group is made up of eleven women who are all friends and live in the same neighbourhood. This is the third time that the group have requested a loan from the field partner, Alidé, in order to increase the size of their businesses. Mariama (seen in the photo with her hand raised) is the group representative. She is 43 years old and married to Jules. They have four children who all attend school and are their financial responsibility. Mariama and her husband live together with their children, and between them they provide for all the expenses of their household. Mariama only attended school infrequently. Nearly seven years ago, she began a secondary activity of selling food ingredients, fabric and cosmetic products from her home. This has enabled her to provide for her family without too much difficulty. Due to the high level of demand from her customers, Mariama would like to expand her business. This is why she has requested a third loan, with the other members of the group, from Alidé. The two previous loans were both fully and correctly repaid.

In this group: Mariama, Ablavi, Jeanne, Marie, Toholoussi, Celestine -Dina, Kouessiba Elisabeth, Victoire, Victorine Noukpoko, Elise, Josephine
