A loan of $1,000 helped a member to buy fertilizer and pay for plowing fees for her crop.

Chhem's Group's story

Residing in the Ou Reang Ov district of Kampong Cham province, Chhem is 59 years old and a mother of four children. She covers her daily cost of living via cassava and rice farming. To supplement her income, she works for others for a fee. This business earns her about 21,000 KHR per day. This is the first microloan for Chhem with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Now, she leads a group of four to get a new loan. As the leader, she will spend her entire loan portion to buy fertilizer and to pay the plowing fee for her crop. She strongly hopes that she will be able to collect a higher yield on the rice crop farm and cassava plantation so that she can earn a better income to support her family.
