Mrs. Pech T. is the village bank president who has been selected from the members. She is a village chef’s assistant as well as a farmer. She now faces a small problem because her field is infertile and this is having a bad effect on her crop. Therefore she decided to ask for a loan to buy fertilizers and pesticides to support her field to make her crop more productive.

One member in this village bank has end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. This member is not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
