A loan of $1,000 helped a member to buy fertilizer and plow for her farmland.

Mom's Group's story

Originally from a village of the Moung Russey district where rice farming is a common way to make a living, Mom is a 33-year-old mother of five dependent children who are all in school. Rice farming is the main source of family’s income, which she and her husband have been in for 17 years.
This is the third micro-loan for Mom’s group with Kiva’s partner and they repaid back the previous loans. Mom has successfully used the loans to better support the family. Now leading her group of two to apply for a loan, Mom, who is the leader, will use her portion to buy fertilizer and the labor to plow her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to have a greater source of family’s income so as to increase her income to make a living better.
