Sophanny's Group's story

This is a small group loan for three members and Mrs. Sophany is group leader. Mrs. Sophanny K., 29, is a vegetable seller who transports produce to customer's home via used bycicle, earning approximately $3.75 per day. She lives with her three children, all of whom are students, in the Krolorng Village, Kompong Cham Province. Her husband, Mr. Kheav Sokhon, 33, is a bricklayer and earns about $5 per day. With her growing business, Sophanny now requests a loan of 600,000 Riel to purchase more vegetable inventory to sell. Because of her business, she is able to support her family’s living expenses and to support her children in getting a higher education. The other two members are:

1- Mrs. Sreyroth C. is a rice farmer and raises pigs. She requests a loan of 400000 Riel to purchase pig food to fatten her pigs.

2- Mrs. Soknoeurn Y. is a rice farmer and sells vegetable. She is widowed and requests a loan of 400000 to purchase more vegetables to sell.

The group lives in Chrey Vean Commune, Kampong Cham Province.
