A loan of $1,475 helped to purchase farming supplies to attend to her coffee crops.

Bety Maricela's story

Bety is 22 years of age, and is a young graduate who completed her secondary education as a nurse. She doesn't carry out her profession due to a lack of places and vacancies at the various public and private institutions in the community and its surroundings. She is married and has two small children in her household. She works together with her spouse in farming and the planting and growth of coffee, which she learned from her partner three years ago. She manages her coffee crops whilst her husband takes charge of maintenance, tending to the land and picking the beans each season, getting involved in the latter activity. The land they farm is their own, thanks to the efforts they have made together to avoid working for other people, and they value and cherish this as it is the legacy that will help their children in the future once they are gone. Her plans include finding work to carry out her profession, both for her experience and in order to increase the household income and strengthen the coffee plantation. The wish of all mothers is first and foremost their children's health and education is her priority as it is the best legacy that she feels she can leave them with. This is why today she is requesting financing in order to purchase farming supplies with which to attend to her coffee crops, so that she may have a successful harvest, generate income and look after her children's future.
