A loan of $5,875 helped a member to purchase wholesale vegetables for her food stall.

Siempre Alegres Group's story

The communal bank group "Siempre Alegres" [Always Cheerful] begins their fifth cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Focal Center of Patacamaya. It is composed of 12 members, headed by a board of which Dominga is President. Business that the members of the community association carry out are varied and include selling potatoes and potato flour, selling pigs, selling sheep, selling cattle, and food sales.
A loan is a great benefit for small microentrepreneurs like Dominga. She entered Pro Mujer two years ago on the invitation of a promoter of the institution who makes home visits. Today, she has a business selling food. She says that she began this business on her own initiative upon observing her neighbors' needs to have a space for the the consumption of food.
The loan will now bring her a capital increase to buy vegetables wholesale. She will buy wholesale in the city of El Alto and then take it to market in her retail space. This way of working allows her to generate resources to support her family as she is married and has 4 children.
When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Dominga replies that she likes the training offered by the institution.
