Manimala Self-Help Group-2's story

The members belong to the "Manimala" Self-Help Group (SHG), which is located in Mahabbatnagar, West Bengal. This group is managed by the local NGO called “Sabuj Sangh”. Shanta (hand raised) is the featured borrower of this group.

Shanta is 48 years old, married, and has two sons and a daughter. She lives with her spouse. All three children are B.A. graduates. She spends most of her time alternating between her daily tasks and cultivation of paddy (rice) in her small cultivable land. She has been into this business for years and puts in a lot of effort every day. She is a hardworking and responsible person.

Shanta is requesting a loan to purchase some more cultivable land, which will help her in cultivation of paddy (rice).

The other members need the loan for paddy cultivation and for pond digging.
