A loan of $400 helped to buy agricultural supplies for his coffee plantation.

Pedro's story

Pedro is a farmer who has a small, 2.33-hectare coffee plantation in northern Nicaragua. He and his wife have been in the coffee-growing industry for 30 years, and they have increased their yield up to 65% in the last three cycles. He has earned a Fair Trade certification thanks to the good management he gives to his coffee trees.

Pedro is an example for his children and community; he possesses qualities that help him be a leader in the community. He employes two regular workers and fifteen temporary workers during the coffee harvest season.

For the new 2014-2015 cycle, he is requesting a loan to buy agricultural supplies to help maintain the quantity and quality of his coffee, and to contribute to the welfare of his family.
