A loan of $175 helped to pay for affordable and clean cooking energy from Liquefied Petroleum Gas.

Aady's story

Aady is a divorced mother of two who lives together with her children. She is happy that there is an alternative that she is now able to switch to. Aady is very happy that she is able to switch to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). She says that she was tired of bending before she cooked food. She attributed the bending to being unable to place a charcoal stove anywhere above her waist prior to cooking.

With LPG, she can cook on a table without necessarily burning the table or herself. Previously, Aady had wanted to buy an LPG stove but she was unable to do so because of the rising upfront costs required to pay for it. As a single mother, she wouldn't have been in a position to pay for it without any outside assistance.

She is very pleased with the Kiva loan, which enabled her pay for the stove, gas and the LPG accessories and she has no problem paying in installments because the cost per month is just the same as the initial money spent on charcoal.
