A loan of $125 helped to pay for efficient and affordable cooking energy from Liquefied Petroleum Gas.

Grace's story

Grace is a mother of two school-going children and a midwife by profession. Charcoal and firewood are her main cooking energy. Grace says that recently the cost of charcoal has gone up and this has affected the quality of food her family eats.

With her income, it is not possible for her to look at any other alternative apart from continuing to manage her family with what is on the market. Fortunately, a scheme of bringing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a clean and thermally efficient cooking energy has been in her area and she considered getting hooked on it.

Although in the past, Grace had a chance of seeing LPG being used at her uncle's place, she considered it an energy for only the rich people. It never occurred to her that she would ever use it.

However, with the Kiva loan, Grace is very grateful that she will be in a position to acquire the package. The installment payments are sustainable and equivalent to what she has been spending on charcoal and kerosene.
