Rugiatu's story

Meet Rugiatu; she is a 28-year-old woman from Waterloo2 Western rural in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She is married with four children. In 2002, Rugiatu established her retail business. She began her business because she wanted to contribute to taking care of her family. She works at her business from 8:00 am until 5:30 pm, six days per week. She says that the main challenge to her business is price inflation and a proper business location.

Rugiatu requires a loan in order to purchase cigarettes, flashlights and stationery to expand her business. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to pay for school fees and to renovate her house. In the future, Rugiatu plans to expand her business more than ever.
