A loan of $350 helped to prepare his land for planting and to pay people to help him with his work. The remainder of the loan will be invested in the purchase of corn-growing supplies.

Jorge Enrrique's story

Jorge is 27-years old. He never went to school, as his parents never encouraged him to do so. Until now. Jorge decided to go to a literacy program being offered in his community. He took advantage of the opportunity and learned to hold his own in reading and writing. Jorge is married. His wife is a homemaker and takes care of the little ones. The children don't go to school yet. Only the nuclear family lives in their home.

Jorge makes his living in agriculture. He has dedicated himself to this business for more than 20 years. Where he lives, the people only work in agriculture. Jorge has been a responsible man who is aware of his obligations as a father and a husband. His work is close to his house, and he gets there on foot. He works alone, and does so from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The loan will be invested in preparing the land for planting, as winter is approaching. With the loan, Jorge will also pay people to help him with his work and invest the remainder in supplies for growing corn.

Jorge's first priority is to have the things his family needs most. He hopes to keep working, as long as god provides him with the gifts of life and health. The loan will help Jorge to meet his needs of renting his land and purchasing the supplies he will need. With the work he does and the harvest of his crop, Jorge will pay off his loan and save for the family's expenses.
