A loan of $225 helped a member to purchase cereals.

Benkadi Group's story

The Benkadi Group is made up of married women with an average age of 38 and four children each. They all live within the frameworks of traditional families in the village of Zebougou, in the commune of Massigui, Dioïla Prefecture, Koulikoro Region (the second administrative area of the Republic of Mali). They all know each other through the bonds of family, community and friendship. They work in the restaurant business and the commerce of cereals and condiments. This will be the sixteenth loan for the women of the Benkadi Group.

In order to satisfy the enormous demand from their customers, they have turned to Soro Yiriwaso. The requested loan amount will go towards the aforementioned merchandise (i.e. cereals).

Awa, the woman in the middle of the standing row, is illiterate. She currently works as a rice vendor. She plans on buying one sack of rice from the wholesalers at the weekly market. She sells her stock for cash out of her own home to a mixed customer base. She plans on making a monthly profit of 12,000 FCFA, which will be partially reinvested into her business, with the rest going towards her children's education.
