Tiessiri Group's story

The Tiessiri group is made up of married women who, on average, are 44 years old and have five children. She all live in traditional families in the town of Fana, Fana Coura neighborhood, Guégnéka commune, Dioïla prefecture, Koulikoro region (the second administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The group members know each other from family, neighborhood, and friendship ties.

The women sell soap, clothing, onions, potatoes, and pottery.

With the goal of meeting the great demand from their customers, the group members decided to join Soro Yiriwaso. They are on their third group loan.

Mariam, standing second from the right of the photo, has not been to school. She sells potatoes.

She plans to buy four sacs of potatoes from suppliers at the weekly markets. She will then resell her goods at retail from her house and from Fana's daily market to a mixed group of customers.

Mariam hopes to earn an average monthly profit of 70,000 francs CFA, which will be reinvested back into her business.
