Lety Michael's story

Lety, age 21, is single and lives with her mother in a relative’s house in San Miguel Province in Bolivar.

She belongs to the Santiaguaeña communal bank in the Santiago parish, which belongs to the San Miguel canton. It is 15 minutes from the San Miguel office. There are 12 members in this communal bank. They devote themselves to agricultural activities like growing corn, beans, and potatoes. Lety devotes herself to agriculture and raising animals. She grows corn, beans, and potatoes. She also has laying hens, and she sells the eggs. She fattens pigs and later sells them.

She needs the loan to buy seeds, fertilizer, compost, and balanced feed for the animals. She will make her purchases in the city of Guaranda, and she sells at the San Miguel Thursday fair. She has faced challenges like pest infestations.

Her dream is to improve the crops and that people from father away recognize her products. She wants this to happen so that she can go to sell in other provinces. She likes to enjoy parties with her friends and relatives.
