A loan of $800 helped to buy fertilizer, compost, and leaf fertilizer and to pay for labor to clear the fields and fertilize her farm.

Angela Antonia's story

Ángela, age 38, completed elementary school. She is married, and she and her husband grow coffee. They have four children. The two youngest go to school in her community, and the two oldest work on the farm with her and her husband. Ángela has been growing coffee for several years. She has a property that she and her husband go to and work. This is because this business activity is their primary source of income. She has devoted the greatest part of her life to this line of work ever since her father left her a piece of land where they grow coffee. The land is a few meters from her house, and the best sales are at the beginning of each year. Ángela’s plans for the future are to expand her farm and to support her children in their education. She will do this so that someday she will be able to see them graduate. She plans to use part of the profits from the sale of her coffee to make improvements to her home. She will use the rest to expand her coffee farm so that she will have more income each season. She is requesting a loan to buy fertilizer, compost, and leaf fertilizer and to pay for labor to clear the fields and fertilize her farm. With this loan her crops will improve because with each plant that is better cared for her harvest will increase. The profits that she gets will be greater, which will serve her to have a better quality of life.
