A loan of $775 helped to buy perfume, costume jewelry, cosmetics, creams, and other products.

Teresa Aracely's story

The credit group “Rostro de Jesús” meets every 2 weeks in Miraflores, a neighborhood in the city of Manta. The city is known for its beautiful beaches, popular all year long. The city’s beauty has no equal, and it has many tourist attractions.

This is where Teresa lives. She is 40 years old and lives in a common-law marriage, from which she has four children aged 17, 16, 10, and 8. The oldest attend high school, and the youngest attend grade school. Her partner is a construction worker.

In order to earn her own income to pay for her children’s education and the household’s expenses, Dona Teresa sells products from the Avon catalog (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume, and accessories for women). She works door-to-door every day, and mostly in the morning, because that is when it is easiest to make her rounds. She sells products on credit and collects payments each week. She has worked in this business for 10 years, and has advanced her family thanks to her earnings.

She will use this loan to buy perfumes, costume jewelry, cosmetics, creams, and other products. She has had three loans in the credit group, and she likes the group because the loans help her a lot. Her dream is that her children finish school and become successful professionals.
