Rosario Robertina's story

The Santa Gema group meets every fifteen days in the Tarqui neighborhood in the city of Manta. Manta is known for its lovely beaches that receive visitors every season of the year, and as a city of unequaled beauty with lots of tourist attractions.

Here lives Rosario. She's 67, married, and she and her husband have an older, independent daughter. Rosario's husband is a businessman.

Rosario and her husband earn their living as shopkeepers. For more than 30 years they have run a small supply store in their house. Over the years the store has improved, even more so as they have received loans that have helped them a lot. They sell all types of products, like rice, sugar, oils, detergents, beans, vegetables, fruit, meat, housewares, stationery items, etc. They work every day from 6AM until 8PM and sometimes later. All her life Rosario has worked alongside her beloved husband, allowing them to give their daughter the good education that now gives her the ability to succeed.

Rosario will use this loan to further stock up the store. She'll buy rice, sugar, oils, detergents, cold cuts, and other basic necessities. She been with the loan group since it started and she likes it for the helps it provides. Her dream is to continue improving her store.
