Odette's Group's story

This group is composed of three members living in the same neighborhood in Benin. The group's representative, Odette (the one raising her hand in the photo) is 53 years old. Odette is a widow and has in her care one child who is not in school. Odette lives with her child and provides for the household thanks to her business. Odette has stopped attending school at the primary level. For three years Odette has been selling miscellaneous items (soap, cookies, canned/tinned food etc) out of her home. Odette stocks up at a market in Benin. With the goal of meeting customer demand, increasing her working capital and strengthening her business, Odette, together with the other members of her group, is applying for her first loan from ALIDé. This loan will allow the group members to better meet customer expectations and increase their revenues.
