A loan of $800 helped to purchase a cow.

Hajrija's story

Hajrija was born in 1959 and lives in Rainci Donji, a village near Kalesija. She is married and has a 25 year old son, who is employed and continues to live with her. Hajrija's husband has a steady job, but he earns just 450KM/month (roughly $300USD/month), which is not enough to support the family. As a result, she grows vegetables and corn in the fields behind her house and sells the products to her neighbors to generate additional income.

Hajrija requests a loan of 1,200KM from Women for Women International to buy a cow. This will be her first cow and she plans to sell its milk and milk products at the local market. All additional income will be used to help meet the basic needs of her family.
