Ángela Georgina's story

In the parish of Crucita of the Portoviejo canton, we find a place known as Los Arenales. Here the Nueva Generación credit group meets every two weeks. This place is known for its beautiful beaches, its cuisine and the warmth of its people.

Here lives Angela, 56 years old. Several years ago her husband passed away, but together they have six grown children. In order to get ahead after her husband passed away, Angela started a convenience store in her home. Here she sells all types of products such as rice, sugar, oils, detergents, vegetables and fruits. She works everyday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm and sometimes later. Her daughter helps her when she can and is unoccupied, but most of the time it's Angela working in the store. She has been working five years in this business and it has allowed her to get ahead. This loan will help her to stock her store, as she will buy rice, sugar, oil, detergents, sausage and other convenience store products.

She has been in the credit group for four years and she likes it because she has made many friends in the group. Her goals are to get ahead in her business and that her store grows more each day.
