A loan of $1,475 helped to buy farming supplies to help with her coffee crops.

Irma Mercedes's story

Irma, 48 years old, is married and the mother of six children. Her children live with and depend on her in every aspect. They are all in elementary or high school. Irma finished the second grade of elementary school. She makes a living growing coffee plants. She has worked like this her whole life because her parents were also farmers and taught her to work the land at an early age.

Irma owns the land she farms on. Her family helps her to develop it and to maintain her coffee crops. Irma currently wants to avoid plagues and contaminants that could damage her crops, which for the moment are doing very well. She needs the support of lenders in order to carry out the purchase of fertilizers and composts that will help to keep her crops safe and strengthen her farm now that the days in which the plants flower are drawing near. Irma's plans for the future include increasing her plots of land, cultivating a better and larger variety of coffee, and generating better income with which to help her family. She hopes to continually improve her work, which is the only source of income in her community and in her family.
