Sona's story

Sona is a 30-year-old married refugee. She has a daughter and a son. Her husband is a laborer, and they live in an IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) settlement. The main source of income for the family is gardening. Sona has been raising and selling seasonal fruits and vegetables for five years, and her monthly income is 220 AZN. Fruits and vegetables are in high demand. People buy fruits to make juice or fruit salad and use vegetables to cook delicious national dishes such as dovgha, doghramajh, kuku, etc. Sona’s income doesn’t cover the family’s needs. She applied for 1,500 AZN in order to build a greenhouse for her garden and buy good fertilizers. This will increase her harvest and income, and Sona will be able to provide her children with a good life and education.
