A loan helped to purchase a large variety of spices to increase the business.

Arjina's story

Arjina is a hardworking lady who stays with her husband, Ajizul. Both are energetic. Both of them attended school until grade 4. They have two school-going children (one son and one daughter) in grade 7 and grade 6. They live in their own house in a small village, Mouyamari, in Jalpaiguri district.

Ajina's husband has a business of selling spices. He buys spices from wholesale markets and sells in the local market. Arjina is a housewife. She also helps her husband after managing the household. The income from their business is not up to the mark, due to non-availability of varieties of stock. So, they cannot supply as per the customers' demand.

Arjina heard from her friend that Kiva’s partner, BJS, gives loans to empower rural women. She has applied for a loan from them to purchase many varieties of spices, mustard oil, etc. so that they can fulfill their customers' demand as well as enhance their business.

This loan will help her family financially to overcome the financial stringency, which at present they are facing, and she will be able to provide good education and other curricular activities to her children. Moreover, she wants to grow her business to be a good entrepreneur.

She is thankful and grateful to both BJS and Kiva.
