Anelia, who is 38 years old, is happy tending her little store. She is married and lives in Sindangan. The store is her means of earning a living to support her family. Fortunately, her store is located in a populous neighborhood and so she makes promising daily sales. She keeps on running the store well even though there is increased competition from other stores. She believes that with PMPC's support, as one family they will sustain and beat the competition.
Anelia has reached her 4th year being a member of Paglaum MPC. She has applied for a loan to pay for inventory like canned goods, noodles, laundry soap, and oil. Expanding her inventory will mean additional income. She has confidence that she can remain a PMPC member in good standing. She is a hardworking mother who wishes to see the store succeed, and from those profits she can afford a good education for her children.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
