A loan of $4,250 helped a member buy clothing.

El Batán (Cuenca) Group's story

The credit group El Batan is made up of 10 women and a man who work in a variety of jobs that allow them to help in their household economies. They are very determined people and always greet each day with a lot of optimism and a smile on their lips. They live in the city of Cuenca. This city has a cold climate and is known for its beautiful historical center, the 4 rivers that run through it, its food and its culture.

One of the members of this group is Silvia, 33 years old, who is a widow but in her marriage had 4 children, ages 15, 12, 8, and 6. Her oldest child is studying at the secondary school, three are in the primary school, and she lives in her own home.

Silvia is dedicated to the care of her children and on market days, she sells a great variety of clothing. The money from her loan will be invested in purchasing clothing to expand her business. Her goal is to have her own vehicle.

In this group: Nancy Maricela, Ediltrudys Ceneida, Gladys Susana, Carmen Dolores, María Beatriz*, María Celia, Yordi Benedicto, María Belen, Karen Pamela, Esthela Del Carmen, Silvia Mercedes
