Sabaly Group's story

Sabaly is a group of women who live in the Darsalam 2 district of Koutiala town. They live in extended traditional families with their husbands, children and other relatives. They have an average age of 43 and at least 5 children. This group of women sell various items including beauty products. The members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso loan program in order to expand their businesses. This is their 17th group loan.

Tata, the woman sitting second from the right, plans to use her loan to buy beauty ointments, creams, soaps, lotions and foundation in batches from the wholesalers at the grand market. She sells the products to a varied retail clientèle. Tata expects to make an average profit of 125 000 francs during this loan cycle, whereas the other group members expect to make around 105 000 francs. As well as using the profits to repay her loan, she will use part of it on her personal expenses and part of it to increase her business. She would like to strengthen her partnership with Soro Yiriwaso in order to avoid stock shortages.
