A loan of $175 helped to buy more clothing, kanga, and perfume for her shop.

Salha's story

Salha is 26 years old, married, and has a two-and-a-half year old child. She has owned a shop in Zanzibar selling clothing, kanga, and perfumes for two years.

Kanga is a local fabric that can be found in a variety of bright colors and with an array of patterns. A local adage is written in Swahili on each kanga. The fabric is used for clothing, table cloths, baby slings, towels, and many other purposes.

Salha is currently able to earn a profit of approximately $80 each month but she is hoping that her first loan from BRAC Tanzania enables her to expand her business and increase her profit. She will use the loan to buy more clothing, kanga, and perfume for her shop.
