A loan of $800 helped to buy 5 quintals of formula, 8 quintals of sulfate, 2 liters of weed-killer, and pay for the labor needed in the crops.

Luciano's story

Luciano is 54 years old. He only completed the fourth grade in school. He wasn't able to keep studying due to his parents’ difficult financial situation.
He is married. His wife is a tailor. This occupation generates the income to cover the household expenses. They have four children, the first one is a policeman; the second one doesn't go to school, she does the household chores; the third one is a freshman in high school; and the fourth one attends elementary school.

Luciano is a farmer (the sowing of bulk grains like corn, beans, and sorghum)
He’s been working in this field for about 25 years. Since he was very little, his parents took him to work in the fields, and when he got married he worked for himself and his family. He has always been a farmer. His workplace is 20 minutes away, and he walks there. His wife and two of his kids are then ones involved in this occupation.

He’ll buy farming supplies with this funding, such as 5 quintals of formula, 8 quintals of sulfate, two liters of weed-killer, and he’ll use the rest of the money to pay for the labor needed in the crops.

He’ll have the opportunity to expand his work area with this money. His dream is that his kids, the ones that are currently studying, will be able to enroll in college and get a degree that will allow them to find a decent source of income to improve their living conditions.
