A loan of $1,200 helped to stock up on pine and mohena woods and special kinds of lacquer.

Antonio's story

Antonio is a Peruvian artist who handcrafts wood jewelry boxes and home decor accessories. He would like to stock up on pine and mohena woods and special kinds of lacquer he uses in his work

Antonio has been selling through NOVICA since 2005. This is his story:

"I'd describe my work as life itself, and my existence together with it. When I was only 17, I created my first piece and it was an immense satisfaction. Art guides my hands in that moment of pleasure as I begin a design. My pieces are inspired by the olden times and reflect the style of vintage pieces. They transmit my love for life and for nature — its flowers, birds and all the rich flora and fauna of our country."

"I'm very grateful for the support you offer craftspeople who dedicate our lives to this art. With this microcredit, I'll be able to buy supplies — mainly wood — in good shape for finishing. Summer is almost over here and the wood is dry and ready to use."
