A loan of $9,250 helped to pay for higher education.

Heyris Yassiel's story

Heyris Yassiel is a medical student who is requesting a loan to pay for her education-related expenses. This is her story:

"My name is Heyris Yassiel, I am 18 years old and live in Los Trinitarios II, Santo Domingo Este. I am the oldest of three siblings, and we all currently live with our parents. Only my mother is currently earning income. I went to a free public high school.

"I want to study Medicine at the Universidad UTESA, but the little income my family earns will not allow me to be what I've always wanted to be since I was young: a doctor. This is why I need to request financial aid that will help me achieve my dream of being a doctor.

"Without this loan, it would be impossible for me to study and get ahead as a person. This will change my life in a marvelous way, because it will help me study what I like, become a doctor in the future and meet my academic goals, which are to get good grades. My family would be very proud of me.

"I want you to help me get my degree because in the future I want to save lives and help improve the health of those in my society."
