Alicia's story

Alicia is 39 years old, married to Juan and has three children living with her in her house made of adobe. Alicia is engaged in farming and raising poultry including laying hens and roosters.

Her daily job is to work to maintain their land in good condition and to cover the costs of their home with the sale of the products that the land produces. She works almost all year with the help of her husband and hiring laborers to decrease the workload.

Part of her daily work is also to provide good care for her birds because she has a special regard for the gamecocks, training them with the help of her husband. She has two small pens for roosters in their farmhouse near her farm and another in her home in the village. She has a good reputation for the good care given to her animals and that is considered a good reference for the work.

This is the fourth loan that she is requesting from her financial institution and is very grateful for the opportunity they have given her. She is requesting this time to have 3,000 new soles for the acquisition of laying hens and to make improvements in their sheds. With the other part of the money, she will invest in their land with the purchase of compost.
