A loan of $525 helped to develop a cacao seedlings nursery.

Mark's story

Mark is a farmer living in a small village in southern Belize. He has four children and has previously farmed crops including beans, corn and rice for his family's subsistence.

Mark is applying for a 1,000 BZD loan through Maya Mountain Cacao as a long term investment in a cacao seedlings nursery holding a thousand trees. He would eventually like to graft these trees to ensure that high-yielding, strong cacao varietals are growing in his community. His aim is to rely on his own work to support himself and his family.
