Soeurn S., 41, is farmer who grows rice in the Phteah Rung Village of PurS. Province in Cambodia. He has a great deal of experience in the rice-growing business because he has been doing so since 1988. Currently, he can earn approximately 8,000 Riel (US$2.00) per day. He lives with his wife and their three children, all of whom are in school.

Normally, Cambodian people will use an ox or buffalo as labor for plowing farmland. Because he only has one ox to help with his farming operation, Soeurn is seeking a loan in the amount of 500,000 Riel (US$125) to purchase another ox to match with his existing one in order to plow his farmland in a more efficient manner.
