Chanthou's story

Chanthou is 19 years old and single, living with her parents and other siblings in a rural village of Prasat Balangk district, Kampong Thom province. Chanthou graduated from high school in 2013, and she passed her exam to be a trainee teacher, majoring in Khmer literature. After two years of training, she will be a secondary school teacher. With the purpose of aiming to be a professional and move to next step of her life career, she would like to attend a university in the faculty of sciene education, majoring in Khmer literature.

Due to inadequate capital, Chanthou is taking out a loan of an amount of 1,080 US dollars, which will enable her to cover the overall fees for a bachelor degree. Chanthou is very happy and thankful for the loan funded via the Kiva program to allow poor students to pursue a higher level of education while contributing to the future development of Cambodia.
