A loan of $850 helped a member to buy condiments.

Kadiatougroupe's story

The four members of the Kadiatougroupe group, the majority of whom live in polygamous households, average 36 years of age with five children each. They all live in Niomirambougou, one of Bamako's districts, and got to know each other as neighbors and through their income-generating activities at the market in Niomirambougou. The group members have small businesses selling condiments (macaroni and chili peppers) potatoes, clothing and cereals. With a view to increasing their businesses, the group members decided to collaborate with Soro Yiriwaso and are on their third group loan. Adjaratou, who is sitting on the far left of the photo is a significant seller of condiments (macaroni and chili peppers). She is planning to use her loan to buy 10 cartons of macaroni and a basket of chili peppers from the market. She resells her products on a retail basis in Niomirambougou to a customer base made up primarily of women. With this loan Adjaratou expects to make an average monthly profit of 45,000FCFA which will be used to reinvest in her business and to provide for small household needs.
