A loan of $1,125 helped to invest in a small grocery store.

Jose Napoleon's story

Señor José is a hard-working, 57-year old man who is married and has a solid and long-standing relationship with his wife. She is very enterprising and likes working outdoors. She helps him out a lot with his pig and livestock rearing business. José learned how to carry out these activities as a boy with his parents, as they grew up on a farm. Their parents have very little money, which prevented José and his wife from studying any further than primary school. They spend eight hours a day working on their business.

José lives and has his business in Bernardo Valdivieso, an area with a warm, wet climate full of friendly and hard-working people. It is a very peaceful place where you can relax as it is far away from the town and all its problems.

José is requesting this loan to invest in a small shop in his home. This investment will boost his earnings and improve his quality of life. José is grateful to Fundación Alternativa and Kiva for the support and opportunities they give.
