A loan of $3,275 helped a member to buy mirrors at wholesale.

Nueva Asunción Group's story

The lending group Nueva Asuncion will begin their 6th cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Focal Center of Alto Lima. The group has 8 members and a board of directors, of which Sonia acts as president. The members have varied businesses including: selling blankets; a store for mirrors and key chains; knitting sweaters; selling pickles; and making coats.

The loan will benefit these small business owners, including Sonia. She has been with Pro Mujer for 2 years, joining at the invitation of a friend from the institution who came to her home. Currently she has a business selling mirrors. She learned the business from her mother, helping her from a young age. When she began to live with her husband, she decided to make her own store. She will use the loan to increase her capital, buying mirrors at wholesale from the distributors in El Alto and later selling them in her commercial space. This work allows her to generate resources to support her family, which includes her husband and two children. When asked what the likes most about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the loan and the trainings that the institution offers.
