A loan of $300 helped to buy 10 quintals of corn for her business, as well as 5 layers to make improvements to her house.

Fátima Del Carmen's story

Fátima is a 23-year old woman who studied up to sixth grade. She lives with her husband and has three children. Her husband works as a fisherman while she makes and sells tortillas and also sells cosmetics by catalog. This is how they obtain income for the family. Fátima has been selling tortillas for 6 years, so she has extensive experience in this activity that she learned from her mother. Due to lack of resources she could not study and did not have other options besides helping her mother. Her father works in fishing and agriculture close to home. Additionally, he sells stuffed tortillas on weekends.

She is requesting a loan to buy 10 quintals of corn for her business as well as 5 layers to make improvements to her house. She expects to increase the income for her family and to be able to cover household expenses and repay the loan.

Fátima says that her dream is to have a decent house and to provide her children with the education that she could not have. She also wishes that God will give them good lives and health.
