A loan of $550 helped to purchase grains.

Oumarou's story

Born in KOMO, OUMAROU lives with her six children and husband in a nuclear family in KOMO, in Commune Rurale de TIELE, Sous-Préfecture de BAGUINEDA, (Région de Koulikoro), Republic of Mali. Not having had the chance to progress in school, OUMAROU soon became interested in revenue-generating businesses, especially the buying and selling of grains: corn, fonio [a type of millet], and beans.

OUMAROU is on her first individual loan with Soro Yiriwaso. It will be used to purchase 5 sacks of fonio and 5 sacks of corn. She gets her supplies locally and in FARALA. And she makes her sales retail and wholesale to men and women customers paying with cash or credit at her home and at the market. She hopes to make a monthly profit of 80,000 francs CFA that will be used to pay back the loan and to reinvest the rest in the commerce of grains.
