A loan of $650 helped to purchase fabrics.

Fanta's story

Born in BAMAKO, FANTA lives with her two children and husband in a nuclear family in N'TENTOU, in Commune de OUELESSEBOUGOU, Préfecture de KATI, (Région de Koulikoro), Republic of Mali. Not having had the chance to progress in school, FANTA soon became interested in revenue-generating businesses, namely, the buying and selling of cloth: Wax Real [a brand of ‘pagne’ cloth] and fabrics.

After having repaid the first individual loan, FANTA is now on her second individual loan with Soro Yiriwaso. It will be used to purchase 30 lengths of fabrics and Wax Réal. She gets her supplies of merchandise from GHANA, LOME, and BURKINA FASO. And she makes her sales retail to men and women customers paying with cash or credit at her home, in OUELESSEBOUGOU, and in BAMAKO

FANTA hopes to make a monthly profit of 100,000 francs CFA that will be used to help out her husband in meeting family needs, pay back the loan, and reinvest the rest in the fabrics trade.
