Sikasso, Mali / Soft Drinks

A loan of $550 helped to purchase juice drinks.

Sirading's story

Born in KAYES, Ms. SIRANDING is a married woman and mother of six. She resides with her husband and their children in a large traditional extended family in OUAYERMA I, in SIKASSO (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). After having run many businesses without success, this good and honest woman was introduced to commerce in orange juice and juice drinks.

Concerned about better satisfying her burgeoning customer base, she decided to join the the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso and is now on her first individual loan. This initial loan will enable her to purchase a bag of sugar, 2 boxes of juice drinks, and 2 boxes of orange juice. After stocking up on sugar, juice drinks, and orange juice, she uses them to make ¼ liter containers of beverages, which are then sold retail locally to men and women customers paying with cash or credit.

With this loan, she envisions making a monthly profit of 32,000 francs CFA that will be used to help cover family expenses, pay the loan interest, and invest the remainder in her business.
