Bubuzhan's story

Bubuzhan is 60 years old, married and has a grown son. Bubuzhan has received secondary education. As a main source of income for her family, Bubuzhan raises livestock, having started over 40 years ago. At present her farm includes two dairy cows, 11 calves, eight sheep and two horses. She has all that is necessary to raise livestock. Fodder and hay are ready, Bubuzhan also has a land plot of 2.5 ha [5 acres], where she every year plants wheat, hops and sainfoin [a perennial used for animal fodder]. Her monthy income is 17,000 KGS. In order to develop her farm further, Bubuzhan has turned to the Bai Tushum microfinance institution for a loan in the amount of 100,000 KGS in order to increase her livestock headcount by buying steers. She plans to use the revenues resulting from this loan for an additional increase of livestock, and plans to save up to buy an apartment.
