A loan of $725 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Maura's story

Maura is 32 years old. She lives with her husband and their two children in her own home, which is built with solid materials. Maura has been working as a farmer for about ten years. She grows organic cacao on some land that she inherited from her parents. The need to support their first child motivated her and her husband to run this business. She always gets help from local workers, who carry out all the necessary and sometimes complicated tasks, like weeding, cutting away defective stems, etc. She really enjoys her work because she feels that farmwork is the most comforting and healthy work there is. However, she has had bad experiences also, since her crops suffered a pest infestation, but she managed to overcome this little by little.

Since the harvest season is approaching, she has a lot of work to do and hopes to get everything done successfully as usual. This is the third time she is requesting a loan and hopes to continue earning lenders' trust, because she considers these loans to be of great support for her business. This time she wants to borrow 2,000 nuevos soles to buy organic fertilizer.
