A loan of $5,525 helped a member to buy wholesale thread.

8 De Diciembre Group's story

The “8 DE DICIEMBRE” community association will begin its sixteenth cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de German Busch centre. It is made up of eight members and is governed by a board chaired by Señora Marcela. The members of the community association have a variety of businesses, selling blankets, tights and sweatshirts, fish, hats, insoles, potatoes and food.

The loan they receive will benefit small microentrepreneurs, including Señora Margarita. She says that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for sixteen years, and was invited to join by a friend who is a member of the organisation. Today, she has a business selling blankets, which she established a number of years ago, after learning how to weave from her sisters.

She will use the loan she receives to increase capital (buying wholesale thread) which she will get from wholesale sellers. After making her products, she will sell them in her sales outlet. This way of working allows her to make money to support her family, as she is married and has four children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the healthcare and training offered by the organisation.

In the photo, there is a woman wearing a white hat. She is the daughter of one of the group's members.

In this group: Marcela, Juliana, Aezobispo, Jhanet Jhovana , Hilda, Cristina , Emma Johana, Elizabeth
