Bashorathon's story

Bashorathon is 61 years old, widowed, and the mother of 2 children. Her children are grown and independent - her daughter lives by herself and her son lives in Russia for work. Bashorathon has a higher education; she finished teaching school and worked for many years in the local school. Beginning in 1998 with 10,000 KGS, she also started working in farming and animal husbandry. Thanks to hard work, Bashorathon now has 0.35 hectares of her own land and 0.50 hectares of rented land on which she raises potatoes and corn to eat and to sell. Her monthly income is 20,000 KGS. With the goal of further expanding her business, Bashorathon turned to the bank "Bai-Tushum" for a loan of 100,000 KGS to purchase high quality cucumber and tomato seeds, and also to buy steers. Bashorathon will have a good harvest, which will certainly improve her family's capital. With the income from her loan, Bashorathon hopes to invest in increasing the size of her herd, and plans to save towards building a greenhouse.
