Jocelyn is 47 years old and lives in Butuay, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. She is married and has two children, who are now at adult age.
For their source of living, Jocelyn is engaged in processing coffee and “tablea” (made of cacao), and a retailing business. She earns approximately PHP 2,000 each month, doing this business activity. She has requested a loan, which she will use to purchase an additional 1,000 packs of processed coffee and “tablea,” for retail sale.
Jocelyn has been a member of PMPC for almost three years. In the future, Jocelyn hopes to expand her business to other, nearby municipalities.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
