A loan of $375 helped to buy organic compost and tools for farming.

Flor's story

Flor, 20, is married to Renán, and together they have one daughter. They live in an adobe house where they share everything as a family. They have inherited a small plot of land from her parents because she is very young and did not have a job to support her financially. With the help of her husband, she has been able to convert the land into a place where she can grow things to provide her with an income. She grows various produce, which she thinks is the most profitable in her region, such as organic cocoa, varbasco and fruit trees.

She tells us she had financial problems to begin with because she had to invest in her land and at the same time look after her daughter. As a result, she had to go and work on other plots of land to earn additional income. She carries out maintenance on her plantations with the help of her husband. This work involves such things as removing weeds and damaged stems and fertilizing the crops with organic compost, in this case with guano from birds.

This is the third loan she has asked for and she has proved to be very punctual on paying her loans. On this occasion, she is asking for 1,000 nuevos soles to invest in the maintenance of her crops by buying organic compost and tools, amongst other things.
